FRESH PEACH TORTE

My all time favourite dessert that's foolproof and always loved. I've been making this for 25 years. I've made it often with strawberries, just use about 1 lb (1 litre); have also used rhubarb, blueberries, nectarines.... You can use light or regular sour cream. A guaranteed winner!

Time 2h30m

Yield 9 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 cups fresh peaches
2 cups mini marshmallows
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups Cool Whip

Steps:

  • Set aside 1/2 cups of graham cracker crumbs. Add melted butter and sugar to the rest of the graham cracker crumbs and press into an 8-inch square baking pan.

  • Pour into lined pan.
  • Top with the reserved 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe, aromatic peaches: The quality of your peaches will greatly impact the flavor of your torte, so choose ripe, fragrant peaches at the peak of their season.
  • Use a food processor or blender to make the crust: This will help to create a smooth, even crust that will hold together well.
  • Chill the crust before baking: This will help to prevent it from shrinking or cracking in the oven.
  • Bake the crust until it is golden brown: This will ensure that it is cooked through and has a nice crispy texture.
  • Let the torte cool completely before serving: This will help the flavors to meld and the torte to set.
