Number Of Ingredients 11

2 lg onions, chopped
1½ - 2 green peppers, chopped
2 celery stalks, chopped
3-4 garlic cloves, minced
Oil
3 cups raw rice, cooked
1 pkg. Andouille Sausage, sliced
1/3 pkg. smoked sausage halved and sliced
½ pkg. Grilled chicken, chopped
2-3 T. Cajun seasoning
¼ t. cayenne

Steps:

  • Chop onions, peppers, celery and garlic. Fry in oil until softened. Meanwhile, cook rice in large kettle of water until done; drain. Add meat to vegetables and continue to cook until warmed through. Season meat with seasonings. When seasoned a little stronger than desired, add rice. Keep warm in crockpot. Tips:

  • Mise en place: Before you start cooking, make sure you have all of your ingredients and equipment ready to go. This will help you stay organized and avoid scrambling later on.
  • Use fresh, high-quality ingredients: The better the ingredients you use, the better your jambalaya will taste. Look for fresh vegetables, plump shrimp, andouille sausage, and a flavorful stock.
  • Don't skimp on the seasoning: Jambalaya is a dish that is meant to be flavorful, so don't be afraid to use plenty of spices. A good Cajun seasoning blend is a must, and you can also add additional spices to taste.
  • Cook the rice separately: This will help to prevent the rice from becoming mushy. Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork before adding it to the jambalaya.
  • Let the jambalaya rest before serving: This will allow the flavors to meld together and develop. Cover the jambalaya and let it rest for at least 15 minutes before serving.
