Time 1h10m

Yield 3 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/4 cup steak sauce
1 small onion
1 tablespoon packed brown sugar (can use more)
3 New York strip steaks
2 (8 ounce) packages sliced mushrooms
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 teaspoons steak sauce
3 cloves minced fresh garlic cloves
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Steps:

  • Mix the steak sauce, onion and brown sugar in a glass dish. Add steaks, coating well; marinate in fridge at least 30 minutes.
  • Make mushrooms by combining all ingredients in an aluminum pan. Cover loosely with foil. Place on hot grill. Cover and grill 10 minutes. (Mushrooms can be placed in a 350º oven instead, baking for the directed amount of time). Stir mushrooms after 10 minutes and re-cover them, continuing to cook them for another 8-10 minutes.
  • Remove steaks from marinade. Grill until steaks reach desired doneness.

PORTOBELLO MUSHROOM "STEAK" WITH GARLIC BUTTER RECIPE - (4.4/5)

Portobello Mushroom

Provided by Stuart

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
1 fresh portobello mushroom, about 1/2 lb, brushed, clean and stem removed
salt and ground pepper to taste
2 teaspoons unsalted butter
1 large clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon minced fresh parsley

Steps:

  • In a small frying pan over medium-high heat, warm the olive oil. Add the mushroom, rounded side down. Season the grill side liberally with salt and pepper and reduce the heat to medium-low. Cook for 5 minutes, then turn, season with salt and peopper, and cook, turning every 5 minutes, until tender and well browned on the rounded side, about 15 minutes longer. Transfer to a cutting board. Remove the frying pan from the heat. Let cool for a minute or two, then add the butter, garlic, and parsley. Swirl the pan to melt the butter and cook the garlic briefly; if the pan has cooled too much, return it to low heat until the butter melts. Cut the mushroom into slices. Add any mushroom juices to the frying pan. Transfer the mushroom slices to a warmed dinner plate. Pour the garlic butter over them.

Tips:

  • To ensure the steak is cooked to your desired doneness, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature.
  • If you don't have a meat thermometer, you can check the steak for doneness by pressing it with your finger. A rare steak will feel soft and springy, a medium-rare steak will feel slightly firmer, and a medium steak will feel firm to the touch.
  • For a more flavorful steak, marinate it in a mixture of olive oil, garlic, herbs, and spices for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
  • When cooking the steak, make sure the pan is hot enough so that the steak sears immediately. This will help to create a flavorful crust and prevent the steak from sticking to the pan.
  • Let the steak rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the steak, resulting in a more tender and juicy steak.

Conclusion:

Garlic mushroom steak is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a special occasion or a weeknight meal. By following these tips, you can create a flavorful and juicy steak that is sure to impress your family and friends.
