GINGER MARTINI

Ginger Martini image

A vodka martini with a bit of a twist and kick. Ideally, you should have chilled martini glasses ahead of time, as this removes the need to chill the glasses when you prepare. Store the vodka in the freezer as well. If your glass and vodka are not chilled, you can make this drink in a cocktail shaker. Don't shake for too long - the vodka will become watery.

LYCHEE GINGER MARTINI

Lychee Ginger Martini image

A fresh and crisp drink. I first made this to serve at an Asian-themed dinner party, and it was great! The original recipe called for crystallized ginger to be placed in the glass, but I felt weird about that so I left it out. I'm not sure what lychee puree is exactly, so I found canned lychees in syrup at my grocery store and blended them for a few minutes. I had to strain it a little through a colander because the lychees didn't blend perfectly so it was a little gross looking, but in the end I came out with a milky liquid that worked well.

  • Shake until chilled and strain into a martini glass.
  • Fill the martini glass with ginger beer.

GINGERED PEAR MARTINI

Gingered Pear Martini image

I had a pear martini at a restaurant while visiting my brother over Thanksgiving. I've been trying to recreate it ever since I got home! This isn't it but it's my new go-to holiday libation. The ginger is my addition because I'd add ginger to almost anything. If you don't agree, sub vanilla vodka for the ginger liqueur and you'll have a yummy pear martini.

Tips for Making the Best Ginger Martini

  • Use fresh ginger for the best flavor. Peel and finely grate the ginger before using.
  • Make sure your vodka is chilled before using. This will help to create a smooth and refreshing martini.
  • Use high-quality lemon juice. Freshly squeezed lemon juice is best, but you can also use bottled lemon juice if you don't have any fresh lemons on hand.
  • Don't over-shake the martini. A few quick shakes are all you need to combine the ingredients and chill the drink.
  • Garnish the martini with a twist of lemon or a lime wedge.
