Golden Rum Cake image

My family requests this rummy Bundt cake from me at all our get-togethers. The butter rum glaze makes it special. An easy way to glaze your cake is to pour half of the glaze into Bundt pan, reinsert cake, then pour the rest of glaze over the bottom of the cake. Let absorb well then invert back onto platter.

Tips:

  • Proper measuring: Use a kitchen scale to weigh ingredients for precise measurements, especially for flour and sugar.
  • Creaming butter and sugar: Creaming butter and sugar together until light and fluffy incorporates air, resulting in a moist and tender cake.
  • Beating egg whites separately: Whipping egg whites separately until stiff peaks form adds volume and lightness to the cake.
  • Folding ingredients: Gently fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture and egg whites into the batter to prevent deflating the air incorporated during creaming and whipping.
  • Baking temperature: Preheat the oven to the correct temperature before baking and maintain a steady temperature throughout the baking process.
  • Inserting a toothpick: Insert a toothpick in the center of the cake; if it comes out clean, the cake is done baking.
