Tips:
- Mise en place: Before you start, gather all the ingredients and tools you will need. This will help you stay organized and ensure that you don't forget anything.
- Use fresh ingredients: Fresh ingredients will give your cake the best flavor. If you can, use organic or locally sourced ingredients.
- Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy: This will help to incorporate air into the batter, making the cake light and airy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition: This will help to prevent the batter from curdling.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with buttermilk: This will help to prevent the batter from becoming too thick or lumpy.
- Stir in the pineapple and poppy seeds: Be sure to stir just until combined, so that the pineapple and poppy seeds don't overmix and become tough.
- Bake the cake in a preheated oven: This will help to ensure that the cake bakes evenly.
- Let the cake cool completely before frosting: This will help to prevent the frosting from melting.
