Number Of Ingredients 4

1 slice of bread (I like thick-sliced whole-grain bread best)
1/2 ripe avocado
Pinch of salt
Optional: Any of the extra toppings suggested in this post

Steps:

  • Toast your slice of bread until golden and firm.
  • Remove the pit from your avocado. Use a big spoon to scoop out the flesh. Put it in a bowl and mash it up with a fork until it's as smooth as you like it. Mix in a pinch of salt (about 1/8 teaspoon) and add more to taste, if desired.
  • Spread avocado on top of your toast. Enjoy as-is or top with any extras offered in this post (I highly recommend a light sprinkle of flaky sea salt, if you have it).

Had some ripe avocados left over. They were extras from guacamole the previous weekend. So I gave this quick and extremely easy recipe a shot on the grill, and the wife and kids loved it. Fresh ones are good too. Use paprika instead of the chipotle and chili powder for less spicy. Canola oil can be substituted for olive oil if desired.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe avocados: Look for avocados that are dark green or black in color and slightly soft when gently squeezed. Avoid avocados that are too hard or too soft, as they may not be ripe or may be overripe, respectively.
  • Use a sharp grill brush: Before grilling the avocado, make sure to clean the grill grates thoroughly with a sharp grill brush to remove any residue or debris.
  • Grill the avocado over medium heat: Grilling the avocado over medium heat will help prevent it from burning or becoming too mushy. Cook the avocado for 2-3 minutes per side, or until it is slightly charred and tender.
  • Use a variety of toppings: There are many different toppings that you can use to complement the grilled avocado on toast. Some popular options include feta cheese, crumbled bacon, diced tomatoes, sliced hard-boiled eggs, or a drizzle of olive oil. Get creative and experiment with different flavors to find your favorite combination.
  • Serve immediately: Grilled avocado on toast is best served immediately after it is made. The avocado will start to brown quickly, so it is important to eat it while it is still fresh and green.
  • Conclusion:

Grilled avocado on toast is a delicious and healthy breakfast, lunch, or snack option. It is easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With its creamy texture and smoky flavor, grilled avocado is a versatile ingredient that can be paired with a variety of toppings.
