GRINGO 7-LAYER DIP

Gringo 7-Layer Dip image

A fast, easy dip -- a little bit different than the other 7-layer dips because of the bean & bacon soup. Cook time is the refrigeration time.

Categories     Dips

Time 4h10m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 (11.5-oz) can of condensed bean & bacon soup
1 (1.25-oz) packet of taco seasoning -- your favorite
1/4 tsp hot taco sauce (or your preferred heat)
1 c sour cream
1 (4-oz) can chopped green chilies or chopped jalapeños, drained (depending on how spicy you want this)
1/2 c diced avocado
1 c shredded cheddar cheese or shredded mexican-blend cheese
1/2 c shredded lettuce
1/2 c chopped tomato

Steps:

  • 1. In a small bowl, combine the bean & bacon soup with the taco seasoning packet and the hot taco sauce; stir until well blended. On a large serving plate or platter, spread the mixture into approximately a 6" round.
  • 2. Spread the sour cream on top of the bean mixture, leaving approximately 1/2" of the bean mixture exposed (so you can see the bottom bean mixture all the way around).
  • 3. Layer the chilies, avocado, cheese, lettuce and tomato over the sour cream, leaving each layer a little exposed so you can see all seven layers of the dip.
  • 4. Cover and refrigerate until serving time (at least four hours). Serve with chips & veggies.

GRINGO DIP

Categories     Cheese     Tomato     Freeze/Chill     Quick & Easy

Yield 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 packages of cream cheese
Large jar of salsa (spicieness to your liking)
1 small package shredded lettuce
2 medium tomatoes
1 can of sliced black olives
1 package of shredded mexican blend cheese
1 bag of tortilla chips

Steps:

  • Combine 2 packages of cream cheese and 1 large jar of any salsa until smooth. Transfer to a serving dish. Cover with shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, sliced black olives and shredded mexican blend cheese. Serve with tortilla chips.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: The fresher the ingredients, the better the dip will taste. This is especially true for the avocado and tomato.
  • Choose ripe avocado: A ripe avocado will be soft to the touch and will have a dark green skin. Avoid avocados that are hard or have brown spots.
  • Use a food processor or blender: A food processor or blender will make it easy to get a smooth and creamy dip. If you don't have a food processor or blender, you can mash the avocado and tomato by hand, but it will take longer.
  • Season to taste: Be sure to taste the dip before serving and add more salt, pepper, or lime juice as needed.
  • Serve with your favorite dippers: Gringo dip is great with tortilla chips, crackers, or vegetables.

Conclusion:

Gringo dip is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. It is a great way to use up ripe avocados and tomatoes. The dip is also very versatile and can be served with a variety of dippers. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy appetizer, give gringo dip a try.
