GULF COAST GUACAMOLE DIP

Gulf Coast Guacamole Dip image

An award winning dip that's festive and a big hit with avocado fans. Most feedback was based on the shrimp. It threw everyone for a loop and added an unexpected flavor and texture. Try substituting canned shredded crab meat if you're a crab lover. You can vary the ingredients to taste and based on how large the avocados are. My dip has never come out the same way twice, but always a big hit!

Tips:

  • Use ripe avocados: This will ensure that your guacamole is creamy and flavorful. Look for avocados that are dark green or black in color and slightly soft to the touch.
  • Choose fresh ingredients: The fresher the ingredients, the better your guacamole will taste. Use fresh cilantro, lime juice, and tomatoes for the best results.
  • Don't over-mash the avocados: You want your guacamole to be chunky, not mushy. Use a fork or potato masher to gently mash the avocados until they are just combined.
  • Season to taste: Add salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste. You can also add other seasonings, such as chili powder, cumin, or cayenne pepper.
  • Chill before serving: Chilled guacamole is the best guacamole. Let it chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
