Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

8 slices bread, brioche or sourdough
8 oz sliced ham
1/3 C sun dried tomatoes, drained
8 slices aromatic cheese
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1/3 cup milk
sea salt and pepper
butter for cooking

Steps:

  • Whisk together the eggs, milk, salt and pepper. Dip one side of each slice of bread in the egg mixture. Drain off excess. Heat the butter in a large nonstick frying pan over high heat. Place bread in pan and layer ham, cheese and tomatoes. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden and cheese is melted.

Tips:

  • Use thick slices of bread for a more substantial French toast. This will also help to prevent the bread from becoming soggy.
  • If you don't have a griddle, you can use a large skillet over medium heat. Just be sure to cook the French toast in batches so that it doesn't overcrowd the pan.
  • Be careful not to overcook the French toast. It should be golden brown on both sides, but still slightly soft in the center.
  • Serve the French toast immediately with your favorite toppings. Some popular options include butter, syrup, fruit, and whipped cream.

Conclusion:

Ham and cheese French toast is a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast or brunch dish. It's perfect for a lazy weekend morning or a special occasion. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a dish that's sure to please everyone at the table. So next time you're looking for a new breakfast idea, give ham and cheese French toast a try.
