Jan's Ham and Egg Breakfast Strata image

This recipe was first served to me 35 years ago while up North snowmobiling with a number of families. Now it typically gets served Christmas morning and on Memorial Day weekend while up North with friends. This is always a crowd pleaser and makes great leftovers.

½ teaspoon dry mustard
3 cups crushed corn flakes
½ cup melted butter

  • Don't overbeat the eggs, as this will make the strata tough.
  • Use a variety of cheeses to add flavor and texture to the strata. Cheddar, Gruyère, and Swiss are all good options.
  • Add your favorite vegetables to the strata, such as spinach, broccoli, or bell peppers.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different herbs and spices to flavor the strata.
  • Cover the strata with foil before baking to prevent it from drying out.
  • Let the strata rest for at least 15 minutes before serving, to allow it to set.

Ham and egg strata is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Whether you like it cheesy, veggie-packed, or meaty, there's a ham and egg strata recipe out there for you.
