Tips:
- To achieve a flavorful and juicy ham steak, choose a thick-cut steak (at least 1 inch thick) and cook it over medium heat.
- Before cooking, score the surface of the ham steak in a crisscross pattern to help the marinade penetrate and distribute the flavors evenly.
- For a tangy and aromatic whiskey sauce, use a good quality whiskey and combine it with a mixture of brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Baste the ham steaks frequently with the whiskey sauce while cooking to keep them moist and prevent them from drying out.
- To ensure that the ham steaks are cooked through, use a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature has reached 140°F (60°C) for medium-rare, 145°F (63°C) for medium, or 155°F (68°C) for well-done.
- Accompany the ham steaks with roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad for a complete and satisfying meal.
