HAMBURGER SKILLET SUPPER

This is something new that our family tried that I got from a magazine. We were surprised that we would all like it so much! It doesn't take very much time at all so it is great when time is limited.

Categories     One Dish Meal

Time 15m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 lb ground beef
1 (3 ounce) package ramen noodles (I prefer beef flavor)
2 cups water
2 cups vegetables (frozen mixed veggies, thawed; peas and corn work perfect!)

Steps:

  • In a skillet, cook beef until no longer pink; drain.
  • Add noodles with contents of seasoning packet and water.
  • Bring to a boil; cook for 3 minutes or until noodles are tender.
  • Add the veggies and cook until tender, about 3 minutes as well.
  • Makes about 4 servings.
  • Here is another way to do it: Cook the beef as stated previously. During this time, heat up a saucepan of water to cook the ramen noodles in. Rather than just using 1 packet, use 2 packets of the beef flavor ramen noodles. When cooking the noodles, cook them without the flavoring. During this time, (after you drain the ground beef) add the veggies to the meat and continue to cook. As the veggies become cooked, add the two packets of flavoring to the beef-veggie mixture. The ramen noodles don't take long to cook, so be sure to watch them. When they are done, drain them, and add them to the beef-veggie mixture. The completed dish will have more flavor, and more noodles for the noodle lovers! Enjoy!

JULIA CHILD'S PAN-FRIED THIN BURGER

Julia Child's Pan-Fried Thin Burger image

Provided by Food Network

Categories     main-dish

Number Of Ingredients 18

1 tablespoon minced shallots
1 teaspoon butter or mild olive oil
1 to 1 1/4 pounds fresh ground beef (preferably 15 to 20 percent fat)
Salt
Freshly ground pepper
Condiments
1 red onion, sliced very thin
1 tomato, sliced thin
Iceberg lettuce leaves
Small whole pickles
Thin Cheddar or Swiss cheese slices
Bacon strips, cooked crisp
Butter, at room temperature
Ketchup
Mayonnaise
Dijon mustard
Salsa
Potato chips

Steps:

  • In a small saute pan, over high heat, saute the shallots in the butter until soft, about 5 minutes. Divide the meat into 4 portions. One at a time, flatten each by chopping and spreading the meat with light strokes of your chefs knife. Season each with salt, pepper and 1/2 teaspoon of the shallots. Blend into the meat, chopping and turning it as you shape the portions into 4 1/2 to 5-inch round patties, 1/4-inch thick. Toast the hamburger buns and distribute them to your guests. Suggest that they dress the bottom halves of their rolls as they wish while you cook the burgers. Lightly dust the surface of a large, hot saute pan, with salt. When the pan is very hot, but not smoking, lay a patty in the pan. Rapidly add a second burger. Brown the meat, about 20 seconds. Turn patties to other side. Cook until done, about 1 minute. Remove cooked burgers to a warm platter. Repeat process with 2 remaining burgers. Place finished burgers onto guests buns as quickly as possible so they can add their finishing touches.

PAN-FRIED ONION CHEESEBURGER

Pan-Fried Onion Cheeseburger image

I make these burgers with caramelized onions and sharp Cheddar cheese. I serve them on brioche buns and eat them plain. Hubby likes to add lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and more fresh onions! With or without all of the topping, they are delicious.

Provided by Yoly

Time 25m

Yield 3

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 pound ground beef (80 percent lean)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
salt and ground black pepper to taste
2 tablespoons salted butter
1 large onion, thinly sliced
3 slices sharp Cheddar cheese
3 rolls brioche, split and toasted

Steps:

  • Place ground beef in a bowl and season with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly and shape into 3 balls. Set aside.
  • Melt butter in a large skillet. Add onion and cook until onions start to brown, 5 to 7 minutes. Remove from the skillet. Add 3 ground beef balls to the same skillet and flatten with a cast iron press or a heavy spatula. Evenly top each patty with onions and cook for 3 to 4 minutes more.
  • Carefully flip patties over so that the onions are now on the bottom, pressing once again with cast iron press or heavy spatula. Top each with a slice of cheese and cook until cheese is melted and burgers have reached the desired doneness, 3 to 4 minutes. Serve on brioche buns.

Tips:

  • Choose the right ground beef. An 80/20 blend of ground beef is ideal for hamburgers, as it has enough fat to keep them juicy but not too much that they're greasy.
  • Season the beef well. Use a combination of salt, pepper, and garlic powder to season the beef. You can also add other spices, such as chili powder, cumin, or paprika, to taste.
  • Form the patties gently. Don't overwork the beef, as this will make the burgers tough. Simply mix the ingredients together until they are just combined, then form them into patties.
  • Cook the burgers over medium heat. This will help them cook evenly without burning. If you cook them over high heat, they'll brown too quickly on the outside but remain raw on the inside.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check the burgers for doneness. The USDA recommends cooking ground beef to an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Let the burgers rest before serving. This will help the juices redistribute throughout the burgers, making them more juicy and flavorful.

Conclusion:

Hamburger fry pan suppers are a quick and easy weeknight meal that the whole family will enjoy. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a delicious and satisfying meal that is sure to please everyone at the table. So next time you're short on time, give one of these recipes a try. You won't be disappointed!
