Yield 1 serving(s)

2 eggs
1/3 cup catsup
1/3 cup water
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 tablespoon butter
1/3 cup cheddar cheese
2 slices toast

Steps:

  • Mix the catsup, vinegar and water in a frying pan with a tight fitting lid.
  • Heat over medium flame until the liquid starts to bubble.
  • Add the butter and stir until melted.
  • Carefully add the eggs, and simmer covered for 3 minutes.
  • Remove the eggs with a slotted spatula and place on the toast.
  • Pour the catsup sauce over the eggs and top with the cheese.

Tips:

  • Use fresh eggs for the best flavor and texture.
  • Bring the water to a gentle simmer before adding the eggs. This will help prevent the eggs from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
  • Add a little vinegar or lemon juice to the water. This will help the eggs to set more quickly and prevent them from becoming rubbery.
  • Cook the eggs for 3-4 minutes for a soft-boiled egg, 5-6 minutes for a medium-boiled egg, and 7-8 minutes for a hard-boiled egg.
  • Transfer the eggs to an ice bath immediately after cooking to stop the cooking process.
  • Serve the eggs with your favorite toppings, such as salt, pepper, butter, or hollandaise sauce.
