Tips:

  • Choose the right beef: Chuck roast or stew meat are the best cuts to use for goulash soup. They are tough cuts of meat that become tender when cooked slowly in liquid.
  • Brown the beef well: Browning the beef before adding it to the soup pot helps to develop flavor and prevent the meat from becoming tough.
  • Use a variety of vegetables: Goulash soup is a great way to use up leftover vegetables. Some good choices include carrots, celery, onions, potatoes, and green beans.
  • Don't forget the paprika: Paprika is a key ingredient in goulash soup. It gives the soup its characteristic red color and smoky flavor.
  • Simmer the soup for at least an hour: This will allow the flavors to meld and the meat to become tender.
  • Serve with crusty bread or dumplings: Goulash soup is a hearty and filling soup that is perfect for a cold winter day. Serve it with crusty bread or dumplings for a complete meal.
