HERB-AND-CITRUS TURKEY BURGERS

Herb-And-Citrus Turkey Burgers image

A well balanced blend of herbs and citrus make for a wonderful variation on the turkey burger. For those like me who love bold flavors, there may be a temptation to increase the herbs. Don't, as it does not improve the burger, rather it takes the seasonings out of balance. Instead you might try replacing the black pepper with some crushed red pepper. My suggested condiments are fresh tomatoes, grilled red onion slices and some Dijon mustard. Based on a recipe from Cooking Light 2000. WW 4pts per burger.

CITRUS HERB TURKEY

Citrus Herb Turkey image

When it came to a roasting turkey, my grandmother had the magic touch: She would wrap a turkey in foil and cook it on low heat for eight hours so it would bake up juicy and tender. This version doesn't take that long, but it's just as good. -Portia Gorman, Los Angeles, California

  • To prevent the burgers from sticking to the grill or pan, lightly grease the cooking surface or use a non-stick cooking spray.
  • Cook the burgers over medium heat to ensure thorough cooking without burning the exterior.
  • Use a meat thermometer to accurately determine the internal temperature of the burgers. Cook until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) for safe consumption.
  • Allow the burgers to rest for a few minutes before serving. This helps the juices redistribute throughout the burgers, resulting in a more tender and flavorful bite.
