Provided by Boo Chef in West Te

Categories     Lunch/Snacks

Time 10m

Yield 1 bowl, 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 tablespoons unsalted butter
3 cups pecan halves
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 teaspoon paprika
2 teaspoons chili powder
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1/4 cup cider vinegar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375¼F.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat melt butter. Add the pecans - saute until lightly browned, about 3 minutes.
  • Add the brown sugar and cook until caramelized.
  • Stir in the paprika, chile powder and cumin. Add the vinegar and cook until all the liquid has evaporated.
  • Season with salt.
  • Spread the pecans on a cookie sheet and bake in an oven until crisp, about 3 to 5 minutes.

Tips:

  • Choose the right pecans. Look for plump, unblemished pecans with a rich, dark color. Avoid any nuts that are cracked or have signs of mold.
  • Toast the pecans before using them. Toasting brings out the flavor of the pecans and makes them more fragrant. You can toast them in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 minutes, or in a skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
  • Use a variety of herbs and spices. The combination of herbs and spices you use will determine the flavor of your herbed pecans. Some popular options include rosemary, thyme, sage, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  • Be careful not to overcook the pecans. If you overcook them, they will become tough and chewy. Cook them just until they are fragrant and have a slightly golden color.
  • Let the pecans cool completely before serving. This will help them to crisp up and make them easier to handle.

Conclusion:

Herbed pecans are a delicious and versatile snack or addition to many dishes. They can be enjoyed on their own, added to salads, yogurt, or oatmeal, or used as a topping for chicken, fish, or vegetables. With a variety of flavors to choose from, there's sure to be a herbed pecan recipe that you'll love.
