Steps:
- For the base spread and tortillas: Mix together the cream cheese and pesto until well combined. Lay out the spinach, whole wheat and jalapeno-Cheddar tortillas and divide the cream cheese mixture among them. Using a spoon or offset spatula, spread the mixture all the way to the edges of each tortilla.
- For the veggie pinwheels: Evenly distribute the spinach over the top of the base spread on the spinach tortillas. Arrange the artichokes, green olives and sun-dried tomatoes over the spinach. Roll up the tortillas tightly and individually wrap in plastic. Set aside.
- For the meaty pinwheels: Shingle the cheese, pepperoni, salami and capicola onto the base spread on the whole wheat tortillas, slightly favoring one side. Roll up the tortillas tightly and individually wrap in plastic. Set aside.
- For the spicy pinwheels: Divide the pepper jack between the jalapeno-Cheddar tortillas topped with the base spread. Divide the arugula, sliced peppers and chopped cherry peppers between the tortillas. Roll up the tortillas tightly and individually wrap in plastic. Refrigerate the rolled tortillas for at least 2 hours and up to 12 hours.
- Unwrap and slice each tortilla into 1-inch segments/pinwheels. Arrange on a platter and serve.
Tips:
- Use fresh, high-quality ingredients: This will ensure that your pinwheels are flavorful and delicious. Opt for ripe, juicy fruits, crisp vegetables, and flavorful cheeses.
- Choose a variety of fillings: This will keep your pinwheels interesting and appealing. Try a combination of sweet and savory fillings, or use different colors of fruits and vegetables to create a visually stunning dish.
- Make sure your fillings are well-blended: This will help them spread evenly when you roll up the pinwheels. If you are using a chunky filling, chop the ingredients finely before mixing them together.
- Use a sharp knife to cut the pinwheels: This will ensure that the edges are clean and the pinwheels hold their shape. If you have a serrated knife, use it to cut the pinwheels so that they don't tear.
- Garnish your pinwheels with fresh herbs, nuts, or seeds: This will add a pop of color and flavor, and make your pinwheels even more appealing.
Conclusion:
Holiday pinwheels are a delicious and versatile appetizer or snack that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are easy to make and can be customized to suit your own taste preferences. With a little creativity, you can create holiday pinwheels that are sure to impress your guests and make your holiday gathering even more special.
