HOLLY WREATHS
I've never come across another spritz cookie like this - one calling for cream cheese as an ingredient. That helps to keep these wreaths moist a long time, while also adding a delicious flavor. -Dee Lein, Longmont, Colorado

Steps:
- 1. In a large saucepan, melt the butter and marshmallows. Stir frequently until you have a smooth mixture.
- 2. Turn off heat and add the vanilla and green food coloring. Stir until blended. Don't worry that the mixture is too green - it will be!
- 3. Stir in the corn flakes until all are coated. Use a folding motion so you don't smash the corn flakes too much.
- 4. Using 2 teaspoons, drop a heaping teaspoon of the mixture onto waxed paper sprinkled with powdered sugar. (I use a sifter to get the sugar onto the paper lightly, since you don't need a lot of the powdered sugar, just a light dusting.)
- 5. Work quickly so the mixture doesn't set up, which makes it hard to get them out of the pan. This recipe can be doubled, but I would recommend you try a single recipe first so you can see how they tend to start setting up.
- 6. After all the holly wreaths are out on the waxed paper, add 1-2 cinnamon decors to simulate the holly berries. (I recommend leaving off the cinnamon candies for small children).
- 7. Let the wreaths sit for about 1-2 hours to dry a bit. Then store in a container on waxed paper. You can make several layers in your container. Hint: if the bottom of the wreath seems too sticky after letting them sit, then lift them off the waxed paper with a spatula and dip the bottom into more powdered sugar before you store them.

- 2. For each wreath, drop about 3 tbsps. of mixture onto foil lined cookie sheet. With fingers shape into wreaths with one inch centers. Immediately decorate with candies.
- 3. Let stand about 5 minutes or until set.
Tips:
- Choose the Right Wreath Form: Select a wreath form that suits your desired wreath size and style. Consider using a wire wreath form for a lightweight and customizable base or a grapevine wreath form for a natural and rustic look.
- Gather Your Materials: Ensure you have all the necessary materials before starting, including the wreath form, floral wire, ribbon, scissors, and any additional decorations or embellishments.
- Prepare Your Greenery: If using fresh greenery, trim and condition the stems to ensure they stay fresh longer. For artificial greenery, fluff and arrange the branches to achieve the desired fullness.
- Attach the Greenery: Begin attaching the greenery to the wreath form using floral wire. Secure each stem firmly to the form, overlapping the branches to create a dense and lush appearance.
- Add Decorations: Once the greenery is in place, add decorations such as ornaments, berries, pinecones, or bows to enhance the wreath's visual appeal. Attach these elements using floral wire or glue.
- Create a Bow: If desired, make a bow using ribbon to add a finishing touch to the wreath. Secure the bow to the wreath using floral wire or glue.
- Hang Your Wreath: Choose a suitable location to hang your wreath, such as a front door, window, or wall. Use a sturdy hook or nail to ensure the wreath is securely fastened.
Conclusion:
Creating a beautiful and festive holiday wreath using fresh or artificial greenery is a rewarding and enjoyable experience. By following these tips and choosing high-quality materials, you can craft a unique and personalized wreath that adds charm and cheer to your home during the holiday season. Whether you prefer a traditional wreath adorned with classic decorations or a more modern and contemporary design, the possibilities are endless. So, gather your materials, let your creativity flow, and enjoy the process of making a stunning wreath that will impress your friends and family.
