HOMEMADE FINGER PAINT

With this quick and easy finger paint your child can finger paint for just pennies. It's perfect for using on paper or in the bathtub. The dish soap makes this finger paint wash out of anything my girls have painted with it. Keeps for at least a week in airtight containers. A fun painting option is to cover a tray or cookie sheet with waxed paper and have your child spoon paint over it in different colors. Cover with another sheet of waxed paper. Your child can press down on the colors and watch them blend and move.

EASY FINGER PAINT

Easy Finger Paint image

All the recipes I found here were calling for either cornstarch(I was out) or glycerin (didn't have any). I found this on http://www.creativekidsathome.com/activities/activity_42.html. DD is working on it right now. With 1/3 cup of water and 1/3 cup of flour we got enough to make three colors, enough for one time painting. Update:it works! The painting I made was nice, no cracks. The one DD did, crinkled up the paper. She poured the paint on the paper and worked from there. I 'm happy with the result.

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 3

2 cups white flour
2 cups cold water
food coloring

Steps:

  • Put water into a large bowl.
  • Slowly add the flour, while the children are stirring.
  • Once it's all mixed together, divide into smaller bowls and add food coloring.

Tips:

1.

Use Safe Ingredients:

Ensure that all ingredients used are non-toxic and safe for children to handle. Avoid using any materials that may cause skin irritation or allergic reactions. 2.

Choose the Right Consistency:

The consistency of the finger paint should be thick enough to prevent dripping but not too thick that it becomes difficult for children to spread. Adjust the amount of water or cornstarch as needed. 3.

Variety of Colors:

Create a variety of colors by using different food coloring agents like beet juice for red, spinach puree for green, or turmeric for yellow. This encourages color recognition and creativity. 4.

Easy Cleanup:

Use materials that are easy to clean up, such as washable paints or ingredients that can be easily wiped off surfaces. This makes the activity less messy and more enjoyable for both children and adults. 5.

Involve Children in the Process:

Encourage children to participate in the making of the finger paint. This allows them to explore different textures, colors, and scents, fostering their sensory development.

Conclusion:

Homemade finger paint is an excellent way to provide children with a fun and educational sensory experience. Using natural and safe ingredients, you can create a variety of colors and textures that stimulate creativity and encourage exploration. Remember to supervise children during the activity and provide them with a safe and clean environment to enjoy their artistic creations. Offer different tools such as brushes, sponges, or even their hands to create various effects, promoting fine motor skills and artistic expression. Encourage children to explore their imagination and express themselves through their artwork. With homemade finger paint, the possibilities are endless!
