CHILI HOMINY BAKE

Chili Hominy Bake image

This is an old family favorite I got from an old Better Homes & Gardens Ground Meat Cookbook. It's super easy and was great after working all day and having to feed 3 hungry growing boys. Now grown, they still request this dish. We like to serve with a salad and a pan of cornbread is a must! If you have a cast iron skillet - use it! No need to dirty another dish. Brown the meat per directions, add everything in and slide it into the oven.

Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of beef. Chuck roast or beef stew meat are both good options for this recipe. They are both relatively inexpensive cuts of meat that will become tender when cooked slowly in the oven.
  • Brown the beef before baking. This will help to develop the flavor of the meat and give it a nice crust.
  • Use a good quality hominy. Canned hominy is fine, but if you can find fresh or frozen hominy, it will give your dish a better flavor and texture.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with the spices. This recipe is a good starting point, but you can adjust the spices to your own taste. Some good options include chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Serve the hominy beef bake with your favorite sides. Mashed potatoes, rice, or cornbread are all good options.

Conclusion:

Hominy beef bake is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. It is also a great way to use up leftover beef. With its simple ingredients and hearty flavor, this dish is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
