This recipe for honey garlic ribs was in an old recipe box I bought at a garage sale around 1960. It is very easy to make with bottled VH garlic sauce.

These are tender and delicious. Serve with rice and a veggie-stir fry. They take awhile to cook in your oven, but don't use much of your time to prepare. Good for a day when you have a lot of other things to do around the house.

Time 2h30m

Yield 4-5 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 3

3 lbs pork side ribs
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 (350 ml) jar dry garlic sparerib barbecue sauce (I like Wong Wing or similar sauce)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350F.
  • Place two 18" pieces of tinfoil shiny side together.
  • Fold 1/4" over along the entire length of one side.
  • Then fold again.
  • Open the tinfoil to make one large sheet and place on a large cookie sheet or baking pan.
  • Place the ribs in a single layer on the foil and sprinkle with 1 teaspoon garlic powder.
  • Flip and sprinkle with a second teaspoon of garlic powder.
  • Close the tinfoil over the ribs and double fold to seal.
  • Close both ends and double fold.
  • Bake for one hour.
  • Remove the ribs from the foil and cut into individual ribs.
  • Place in a large casserole dish and cover with the sparerib sauce.
  • Place the lid on the casserole or cover with tinfoil.
  • Bake for 70-80 minutes or until very tender.
  • Before serving, stir to coat with sauce.

Tips:

  • Choose the right ribs: Look for spare ribs that are meaty and have a good amount of marbling. Avoid ribs that are too thin or have a lot of bone.
  • Prepare the ribs: Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. This will help the ribs cook more evenly and will make them more tender.
  • Make the marinade: The marinade is what gives the ribs their flavor. Use a combination of soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger, and rice vinegar. You can also add other spices, such as chili powder or cumin, to taste.
  • Marinate the ribs: Place the ribs in a large bowl or bag and pour the marinade over them. Make sure the ribs are completely coated. Cover the bowl or bag and refrigerate the ribs for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
  • Cook the ribs: You can cook the ribs in the oven, on the grill, or in a slow cooker. If you are cooking the ribs in the oven, preheat the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the ribs on a baking sheet and cook them for 2-3 hours, or until they are tender. If you are cooking the ribs on the grill, preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Grill the ribs for 10-15 minutes per side, or until they are tender.
  • Serve the ribs: Serve the ribs hot with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, coleslaw, or baked beans.

Conclusion:

Honey garlic spare ribs are a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for any occasion. With a little planning, you can have these ribs on the table in no time. So what are you waiting for? Give this recipe a try today!
