4 -6 large vidalia onions
1/2 cup salted butter
1 cup Heinz ketchup
2 -4 tablespoons Frank's red hot sauce

Serve on hot dogs, sausage patties or anything you want. My husband was actually eating it by the spoon.

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Onions: Yellow or white onions are the most common choices for hot dog onions.
  • Slice the Onions Thinly: Thinly sliced onions will cook more evenly and caramelize better.
  • Use Butter or Oil: Butter adds flavor, while oil helps the onions caramelize.
  • Cook the Onions Over Medium Heat: Medium heat will allow the onions to caramelize slowly and evenly.
  • Stir the Onions Frequently: Stirring the onions frequently will prevent them from burning.
  • Add a Pinch of Salt: A pinch of salt will help to draw out the moisture from the onions and speed up the caramelization process.
  • Be Patient: Caramelizing onions takes time. Be patient and don't rush the process. You'll be rewarded with delicious, golden-brown onions.
