Time 3h

Yield 2 fifths

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 quart water
2 1/2 cups sugar
3 tablespoons instant coffee
1 tablespoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups vodka

Steps:

  • Boil water, coffee, sugar.
  • Simmer for 3 hours (stirring frequently).
  • Let cool and add vanilla and vodka.
  • Bottle and cap tightly.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality coffee beans. Freshly roasted and coarsely ground coffee beans will yield the best flavor.
  • Don't over-roast the coffee beans. Over-roasted beans will make the Kahlúa bitter.
  • Use filtered or distilled water. Tap water can contain impurities that can affect the taste of the Kahlúa.
  • Use a clean glass jar or container to store the Kahlúa. A dirty jar can contaminate the Kahlúa.
  • Store the Kahlúa in a cool, dark place. Kahlúa will keep for up to 6 months in a cool, dark place.

Conclusion:

Making Kahlúa at home is a fun and easy way to enjoy this delicious liqueur. With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a Kahlúa that is just as good as, if not better than, the store-bought kind.
