PERFECT PEACH COBBLER

Perfect Peach Cobbler image

I played with a base recipe and came up with this to take to a friend's pool party. It was such a hit. All the guys said, 'Gosh, I didn't know anyone knew how to use a Dutch oven anymore!' I told them they were my guinea pigs because this was my first attempt with fresh peaches instead of canned. I don't think I can go back now; it was perfect, especially served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. A little extra work but I can't wait to make it again.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe peaches: Use peaches that are ripe but still firm. This will ensure that they hold their shape when baked.
  • Peel the peaches: Peeling the peaches will give the cobbler a smoother texture. You can use a vegetable peeler or a sharp knife to remove the skin.
  • Slice the peaches: Slice the peaches into 1/2-inch thick slices. This will help them cook evenly.
  • Use a deep baking dish: A deep baking dish will prevent the cobbler from boiling over. You can use a 9x13 inch baking dish or a Dutch oven.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make the cobbler tough. Stir just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the cobbler until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling: This usually takes about 30-40 minutes. You can check if the cobbler is done by inserting a toothpick into the center. If it comes out clean, the cobbler is done.
  • Serve the cobbler warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream: This is the best way to enjoy this classic summer dessert.

Conclusion:

Peach cobbler is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a cobbler that is sure to impress your family and friends. So next time you're looking for a sweet treat, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed.
