Some days a hearty bowl of oatmeal just hits the spot. While you can certainly make oatmeal other ways, I found I love the texture I get from my Instant Pot®. I used a small Pyrex® bowl, but you may use your preferred pot-in-pot method.

STRAWBERRIES AND CREAM OATMEAL

Strawberries and Cream Oatmeal image

I tried this one morning when I was out of blueberries (my usual favorite) and it is surprisingly good! I am posting it because, like me, I am sure not too many people would think to put strawberries in oatmeal, but it actually has become one of my favorite ways to eat oatmeal (a daily staple for me!) Also, fruit measurements are estimates, as I usually just use whatever I have.

Time 10m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1/2 cup quick-cooking oats
1 cup milk (I prefer vanilla soymilk) or 1 cup soymilk (I prefer vanilla soymilk)
1/2 cup strawberry
1/2 banana (optional)
sugar or artificial sweetener, if desired

Steps:

  • Add milk to oats in a deep bowl and microwave 3-5 minutes, depending on your microwave wattage and desired thickness. Watch carefully so it doesn't spill over the sides!
  • While oatmeal is cooking, wash and slice strawberries. Soft strawberries work well, so you may want to mash them a little bit, but that is up to you.
  • When cereal is done, stir strawberries and sliced banana (if using) into oatmeal. If desired, add a little sugar or splenda.
  • NOTE: It is also good with a little vanilla extract if you are using plain milk, just to give it some flavor. ALSO, You may need to re-heat oatmeal a little before eating if your strawberries cool it down too much.

Tips:

  • Use ripe strawberries: Using ripe strawberries will give your oatmeal a sweeter, more flavorful taste. If you don't have ripe strawberries, you can thaw frozen strawberries or use dried strawberries.
  • Adjust the amount of sweetener: The amount of sweetener you add to your oatmeal is a matter of personal preference. If you like your oatmeal sweeter, add more sweetener. If you prefer a less sweet oatmeal, use less sweetener or omit it altogether.
  • Don't overcook the oatmeal: Oatmeal is best when it is cooked until it is tender but still has a slight bite to it. If you overcook the oatmeal, it will become mushy.
  • Top your oatmeal with your favorite toppings: There are many different toppings that you can add to your oatmeal to make it even more delicious. Some popular toppings include nuts, seeds, dried fruit, and fresh fruit.

Conclusion:

Instant Pot Strawberries and Cream Oatmeal is a quick, easy, and delicious breakfast that is perfect for busy mornings. It is also a healthy breakfast that is packed with nutrients. If you are looking for a new oatmeal recipe to try, I highly recommend this one.
