From me own lazy Irish grandmother who died at 100 years plus one day old on Saint Patricks Day back in 1968. I love the way it smells while baking. If you don't like the smell of beer, stay away from it. I also like that you can add it to an oven being used to make something else like a chicken etc. If the other item being baked or roasted requires 325F, just add an extra 10 minu

Number Of Ingredients 3

2 1/2 c self rising flour
12 oz room temperature beer (the better the beer the better the bread...harps is a good choice)
2 Tbsp sugar

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 375
  • 2. Hand mix all ingredients until blended...do not use a mixer or do not beat.
  • 3. Put mixture into a prepared loaf pan, i use the standard size loaf pan
  • 4. Bake 45 minutes or until done.

Tips for Making Irish Beer Bread:

  • Choose the Right Beer: A dark beer, like Guinness or Murphy's Stout, will give your bread a rich, malty flavor. A lighter beer, like a lager or ale, will result in a milder-flavored loaf.
  • Don't Overmix the Dough: Overmixing will make the bread tough. Mix the dough just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Let the Dough Rise in a Warm Place: The dough should rise for about an hour, or until it has doubled in size. A warm place, like a sunny windowsill or near a warm oven, will help the dough rise properly.
  • Bake the Bread Until It's Golden Brown: The bread is done baking when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. The crust should be golden brown.
  • Serve the Bread Warm: Irish beer bread is best served warm. You can slice it and toast it, or serve it with butter and honey.

Conclusion:

Irish beer bread is a delicious and easy-to-make bread that is perfect for any occasion. It has a moist and tender crumb and a slightly sweet flavor that pairs well with a variety of toppings. Whether you serve it for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Irish beer bread is sure to be a hit.
