Time 8h15m

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 medium white onions chopped
1 clove garlic crushed
32 oz chicken broth
6-8 medium potatoes chopped
2 c frozen corn
1/2 lb 1/4 inch slices of kielbasa
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
8 oz shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 c heavy whipping cream

Steps:

  • 1. In a 6 quart crock-pot add all of the ingredients except the cream and cheese
  • 2. Stir to combine
  • 3. Cover and cook on low 8-10 hours or on high 5-6 hours or until the potatoes are fork tender.
  • 4. Remove the lid and fish out the bay leaf and discard.
  • 5. Add the shredded cheddar cheese and cream to the soup and stir to combine and melt the cheese
  • 6. Serve with a nice fresh salad and some crunchy bread to sop up the soup juices and enjoy!

Tips:

  • Choose the right type of kielbasa: Smoked kielbasa adds a delicious smoky flavor to the chowder, while fresh kielbasa provides a milder flavor.
  • Slice the kielbasa and potatoes thinly: This will help them cook evenly.
  • Don't overcrowd the pot: If you add too much kielbasa and potatoes at once, they will not cook evenly. Add them in batches if necessary.
  • Use a variety of vegetables: This will add flavor and texture to the chowder. Some good options include carrots, celery, onions, and corn.
  • Season the chowder to taste: Add salt, pepper, and other spices to taste. You can also add a splash of cream or milk for a richer flavor.
  • Serve the chowder hot: Kielbasa potato chowder is best served hot, with a side of crusty bread or crackers.

Conclusion:

Kielbasa potato chowder is a hearty and flavorful soup that is perfect for a cold winter day. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. With a few simple ingredients, you can create a delicious and satisfying meal that the whole family will enjoy.
