2 cups water
3 tablespoons thinly sliced fresh basil leaves
1 tablespoon grated lemon zest
2 teaspoons English breakfast or other black tea leaves

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil. Remove from the heat. Add the basil, lemon zest and tea leaves; cover and steep for 4 minutes. Strain, discarding basil, zest and tea leaves. Serve immediately.

2-3 Basil leaves, washed
2 pieces of lemon rind, washed well-- when we use the rind we like to use organic lemon (each about 1½ - 2 inches long)

Steps:

  • We just add the basil leaves and lemon rind to a cup of hot water. Let it sit for a few minutes and enjoy!

I tweaked this recipe it to make a refreshing drink. I love basil and this recipe has a wonderful basil-infused flavor. Delicious on a warm day or with grilled chicken. Serve over ice and garnish with fresh basil and lemon slices.

12 cups cold water
1 (12 ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
⅓ cup white sugar
¼ cup fresh lime juice
½ cup firmly packed torn basil leaves

Steps:

  • Stir water, lemonade, sugar, and lime juice together in a pitcher. Add 1/2 cup basil leaves, stir to combine, cover the pitcher, and refrigerate until flavors combine, 8 hours to overnight. Remove basil leaves and discard.
