OLD FASHIONED BLACK CURRANT LEMONADE

Old Fashioned Black Currant Lemonade image

Here is a very old recipe for Black Currant lemonade. This is sooo good. I hope that you will enjoy this wonderful drink.

Provided by Baby Kato

Categories     Beverages

Time 35m

Yield 4 , 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

4 quarts fresh black currants, black, fresh
1 cup cold water, cold
1 cup white sugar, white
2 lemons

Steps:

  • (Boil the water and currants without the sugar until the fruit are soft. Sugar added too soon makes the currants tough, and they will not release their flavour.).
  • Cover the currants with 1 cup of water and boil until the fruit is soft.
  • Strain the mixture, keeping only the juice.
  • Add 1 cup of sugar to the juice and reheat.
  • Once the sugar has dissolved and the mixture has thickened a little pour the black currant syrup into a jar and seal, allow to cool, then place in refrigerator until ready to use.
  • When ready to serve, add ice cubes and the squeezed lemon halve to the chilled glass.
  • For one serving of lemonade use equal parts syrup and equal parts cold water with juice from a half a lemon.

Tips:

  • Use fresh, ripe lemons. This will give your ice cream the best flavor.
  • Zest the lemons before juicing them. This will release the essential oils from the peel, which will give your ice cream a more intense lemon flavor.
  • Strain the lemon juice before adding it to the ice cream base. This will remove any pulp or seeds that could give your ice cream a gritty texture.
  • Chill the ice cream base thoroughly before churning it. This will help the ice cream freeze more evenly and smoothly.
  • Churn the ice cream according to the manufacturer's instructions. Over-churning the ice cream can make it too hard and icy.
  • Transfer the ice cream to a freezer-safe container and freeze it for at least 4 hours before serving. This will allow the ice cream to firm up and develop its full flavor.

Conclusion:

Lemon ice cream with black currant sauce is a refreshing and delicious dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its bright, citrusy flavor and rich, fruity sauce, this ice cream is sure to please everyone at your table. So next time you're looking for a sweet treat, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
