BEER COCKTAIL WITH LIME & TAJíN

Beer Cocktail with Lime & Tajín image

A refreshing way to enjoy a beer, a chelada (also called michelada) is a popular drink in Mexico. There are many variations but it often features a lager with a hefty dose of lime juice served in a glass with a salted rim. To spice things up a bit, we dip the rim of the glass in Tajín (a chile-lime seasoning) to give each sip a tangy bite, and add a little ice to the glass to keep things nice and cold.

Fresh and Tart Chelada (Mexican Lime and Beer Cocktail) Recipe image

A chelada is a more basic version of the michelada, the chili-spiked Mexican beer cocktail-just fresh lime juice, beer, and a little salt, with none of its cousin's spicy intensity.

CLASSIC MICHELADA

Classic Michelada image

Learn to make a classic Mexican beer cocktail with tomato juice, hot sauce, and lime juice that you can sip all day long at the beach.

Provided by Kat Odell

Categories     Beer     Cocktail

Yield 1 serving

Number Of Ingredients 8

Coarse salt
2 lime wedges
2 ounces tomato juice (canned, bottled, or fresh)
1 ounce fresh lime juice
1/2 ounce hot sauce
1/4 ounce Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon Tajín Clásico
1 bottle (12 ounces) pale lager, such as Corona Extra, chilled

Steps:

  • Place about 1/4 cup salt on a small plate. Rub the rim of a Collins or pint glass (or a 16-ounce Solo cup-no need to get fancy) with one of the lime wedges to moisten it, then dip the rim in the salt to coat.
  • Combine the tomato juice, lime juice, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Tajín, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl and mix.
  • Fill the prepared glass about three-quarters full with ice cubes and add the tomato juice mixture. Top with beer and garnish with the remaining lime wedge.

Tips:

  • Use fresh limes for the best flavor. Limes that are too ripe will be bitter, while limes that are not ripe enough will be sour.
  • If you don't have fresh limes, you can use bottled lime juice. However, fresh limes will give your cocktail a much better flavor.
  • Use a good quality beer. A light beer will work best in this cocktail, but you can use any type of beer that you like.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different types of tequila. A silver tequila will give your cocktail a clean, crisp flavor, while a reposado tequila will add a bit of smokiness.
  • Serve your cocktail immediately. This cocktail is best when it is served fresh.

Conclusion:

The lime beer cocktail is a refreshing and delicious cocktail that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be enjoyed by everyone. So next time you are looking for a new cocktail to try, give the lime beer cocktail a try.
