LINGUINE WITH CLAM SAUCE AND BABY PORTOBELLO MUSHROOMS

Linguine with Clam Sauce and Baby Portobello Mushrooms image

This is one of my all-time favorite meals. What makes the clam sauce so flavorful is the chicken bouillon, Worcestershire sauce, and baby portobello mushrooms. I recommend having this with some garlic bread and a nice glass of red wine. A very satisfying meal.

Tom Sellick's Linguine and Clam Sauce image

Remember Tom Sellick? That heartthrob actor from the 1970's and 1980's? This is his recipe, as he prepared it on the now defunct program, "Hour Magazine", starring Gary Collins. Gary stated that it was one of the best recipes they had ever featured on the show! I can attest that it is very good! Fast and easy, too!

LINGUINE AND WHITE CLAM SAUCE***** RECIPE - (4.4/5)

Linguine and White Clam Sauce***** Recipe - (4.4/5) image

Provided by Gigirox

Number Of Ingredients 14

4 Tb butter
2 cloves garlic, pressed/minced
2 Tb flour
1 cup half-n-half
2 cans minced clams w/ liquid
1 chicken bouillon
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp thyme
4 Tb fresh parsley (2tsp dry)
White Wine- optional
S&P
1 # linguine pasta- prepared according to package
Shredded Parmesan Cheese
Fresh Parsley for garnish

Steps:

  • -Over a med-high heat, melt butter in large sauté pan. - Add garlic and sauté until translucent. -Add flour, stirring to create a roux, cook for about 30 seconds to avoid a raw flour taste to your sauce. -Slowly pour in the 1/2&1/2 stirring constantly to avoid lumps. -Mix in clams with liquid. -Add spices, bouillon and parsley. -Season with S&P to taste and add a splash of wine if using it -Continue to cook sauce to let flavors blend and heat through, just a minute or two. -Place cooked pasta in large bowl, pour sauce over pasta and toss slightly. - Garnish with cheese and parsley.

Tips:

  • Use fresh clams. Fresh clams will give your sauce the best flavor. If you can't find fresh clams, you can use frozen clams, but make sure to thaw them before using.
  • Soak the clams in cold water for 30 minutes before cooking. This will help to remove any grit or sand from the clams.
  • Use a good quality white wine. The wine you use will add flavor to the sauce, so make sure to choose a wine that you enjoy drinking.
  • Don't overcook the clams. Clams only take a few minutes to cook, so be careful not to overcook them or they will become tough.
  • Serve the sauce immediately. Linguine and clam sauce is best served immediately, while the clams are still tender and the sauce is hot.

Conclusion:

Linguine and clam sauce is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a flavorful and satisfying meal that the whole family will enjoy. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy dinner, give linguine and clam sauce a try.
