1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1-1/4 cups water
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
FROSTING:
1 package (8 ounces) reduced-fat cream cheese
1/3 cup confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 carton (8 ounces) frozen reduced-fat whipped topping, thawed
TOPPING:
3/4 cup sweetened shredded coconut
1/2 cup candy hearts

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until crumbly, about 2 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. 2 eggs, separated
1 3/4 cups flour, sifted
1/3 cup cooking oil
2 unsweetened chocolate squares, Melted
1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and dust with flour two 8 inch pans. Beat egg whites. Gradually beat in 1/2 cup of sugar. Continue beating until very stiff and glossy. Sift remaining sugar, flour, baking soda, and salt in another bowl. Pour in oil, and half of buttermilk. Beat one minute on medium speed. Add remaining buttermilk, egg yolks and chocolate. Beat one minute more. Fold meringue into batter gently. Bak 30-35 minutes.

1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup canola oil
2 eggs, separated
2 ounces German sweet chocolate, melted
1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon plus 1/8 teaspoon salt, divided
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1/3 cup baking cocoa
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1/4 cup creme de cacao
1/2 cup ground almonds

Steps:

  • Grease and flour two 9-in. round baking pans; set aside. In a large bowl, beat 1 cup sugar, buttermilk, oil, egg yolks and melted chocolate until well blended.
