Yield Makes 2

Number Of Ingredients 5

3/4 cup chilled whole milk
1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
2 1/4 cups vanilla ice cream
2 tablespoons malted milk powder
1/4 cup malted milk balls (such as Whoppers or Maltesers; about 1 ounce), crushed in mortar with pestle or in processor

Steps:

  • Place two 12-ounce (or larger) glasses in freezer to chill 1 hour.
  • Pour milk into blender. Scrape in seeds from vanilla bean; discard bean. Cover and blend 15 seconds. Add ice cream and malted milk powder and blend until thick and creamy, stopping to push down ice cream as necessary. Divide milk shake between chilled glasses. Top each with crushed malted milk balls and serve.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: The fresher the ingredients, the better the malted milk squares will taste. This is especially true for the milk and butter.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make the malted milk squares tough. Mix just until the ingredients are well combined.
  • Bake the malted milk squares at the right temperature: The ideal temperature for baking malted milk squares is 350 degrees Fahrenheit. If the oven is too hot, the squares will brown too quickly and may burn. If the oven is too cool, the squares will not cook through properly.
  • Let the malted milk squares cool completely: Before cutting and serving the malted milk squares, let them cool completely. This will help them to hold their shape.

Conclusion:

Malted milk squares are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are perfect for parties, potlucks, or simply as a snack. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make your own malted milk squares at home. So what are you waiting for? Give this recipe a try today!
