I really dig Manwich, but the canned stuff gives me the tummy ache sometimes. When I found this clone recipe, I decided to try it to see if it gave me the tummy ache too. NOPE!! I was pleased! It may take a little more effort than opening a can, but for me, it's worth it. Also, you know this stuff is fresh and you never know how long that other stuff has been in a can.

1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon dried onion flakes
1 tablespoon green pepper, chopped fine
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
1/4 teaspoon celery seed
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon mustard
1 lb ground beef

Steps:

  • Fry the beef and drain the fat.
  • Add remaining ingredients to the skillet and bring to a boil.
  • Lower heat and simmer for 10 minutes.

1 lb ground beef
1 (10 1/2 ounce) can Manwich sloppy joe mix
1 (16 1/3 ounce) package Pillsbury refrigerated biscuits
Velveeta cheese (shredded)

Steps:

  • Brown hamburger meat and then drain grease from meat.
  • Start to preheat oven to what ever the biscuit instructions say.
  • Add the can of Manwich to the drained beef in pan and mix. Follow directions on can of Manwich as far as how long to cook, then turn off stove and let mixture start cooling down.
  • Next, take a muffin tin (reg size) and spray with non stick spray(Pam).
  • take the biscuits and flatten them out one by one in the palm of hand till it can cover the muffin tin hole, hold flatten biscuit over muffin tin hole and put a scoop of sloppy joe mix on it and let the edges of the biscuit go, it will start to fall down into the opening. You can add a little more to make it full.
  • Do this with each biscuit. Top with shredded cheese and bake per biscuit directions. Usually 10-12 minutes.(As it bakes the biscuit will puff up around the Manwich making individual Sloppy Joe Cups that you can eat with a fork, or with your hands.
  • Be careful though, because the inside is very hot.

My mom use to make these when I was little. It is a nice change from slapping it on a bun. A recipe cheap, and quick that all the kids love.

1 can(s) manwich sauce,original
1 - tube pillsbury buttermilk biscuit(10 count)
1 pound(s) hamburger meat
- favorite shredded cheese(i use velveeta)

Steps:

  • Pre-heat oven to temp on biscuit tube. Spray muffin tin with non-stick spray.
  • Brown hamburger meat and drain grease from meat. Add in can of manwich sauce and cook per instructions on can.
  • Take and flatten out biscuit between hands till it looks like a round disc and mold into the muffin tin. Spoon in manwich. Continue this step till done.
  • Top each one with cheese and bake per instructions on the biscuit tube.
  • Will be contained all in a nice little cup when the biscuit puffs up. Be careful, very hot inside. Can eat with hands or a fork.

¾ pound lean ground beef
½ cup barbeque sauce
1 tablespoon dried minced onion
1 (12 ounce) package refrigerated biscuit dough
⅓ cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease the cups of a muffin pan.
  • In a large heavy skillet over medium heat, cook beef until evenly brown. Drain excess fat. Stir in barbeque sauce and dried onion. Simmer for a few minutes over low heat.
  • Flatten each biscuit, and press into cups of the prepared muffin pan. Make sure the dough comes to the top of the pan. Spoon a portion of the meat mixture into each dough cup.
