Time 2h20m

Yield 42 truffles, 42 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 cup butter, softened to room temperature
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 (14 ounce) can condensed milk
1 tablespoon maple syrup
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup candied bacon, chopped
1 lb dark dipping chocolate

Steps:

  • Great recipe for bacon candy! http://www.food.com/recipe/brown-sugar-bacon-candy-326739.
  • Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment or wax paper.
  • Using a large standing mixer, cream the butter and the sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Add the condensed milk and maple syrup and beat until well-mixed, then add the flour and salt and beat on low until combined. Stir in bacon.
  • Using a small scoop or a teaspoon, scoop up small round balls of the dough and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Refrigerate for one hour. Remove from fridge and roll into balls. Place back in fridge for another hour.
  • Melt chocolate in double boiler, in the microwave or, as I prefer, in a Crock Pot on low. Dip balls one at a time and coat evenly. [I tried dumping a bunch in the Crock Pot at once but they get soft fast. Alternatively, you could put the balls in the freezer for a few minutes before dipping first so they get good and cold.] Remove them with a fork and tap against the side of the pot to remove any excess chocolate. Place back on baking sheet and top with a piece of candied bacon, if desired.
  • Put truffles back in fridge until firm. Store in fridge. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients. The better the ingredients, the better the truffles will taste. Use real maple syrup, fresh bacon, and high-quality chocolate chips.
  • Don't overmix the dough. Overmixing will make the truffles tough. Mix the dough just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Chill the dough before rolling it. This will make it easier to work with and will help the truffles hold their shape.
  • Use a small cookie scoop to portion the dough. This will help you make uniform truffles.
  • Roll the truffles in chopped bacon. This will add a delicious smoky flavor to the truffles.
  • Freeze the truffles before dipping them in chocolate. This will help the chocolate set quickly and evenly.
  • Use a double boiler to melt the chocolate. This will help prevent the chocolate from burning.
  • Dip the truffles in the chocolate and then roll them in sprinkles or chopped nuts. This will add a festive touch to the truffles.
  • Chill the truffles until the chocolate is set. This will take about 30 minutes.

Conclusion:

These maple bacon cookie dough truffles are a delicious and easy-to-make treat. They're perfect for parties, potlucks, or just a sweet snack. With their sweet and salty flavor, these truffles are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them.
