MARTHA STEWART'S HOT FUDGE SAUCE

Martha Stewart's Hot Fudge Sauce image

This came from a Martha Stewart cookbook. Wonderful flavor. Almost the same taste as Malley's hot fudge sauce in Cleveland. I have been asked for this recipe a lot. I am REQUIRED to double it every time I make it! It is good even just taking it by the spoonful after it is in the refrigerator. Do not cook it too long though or it will become fudge.

  • Combine all ingredients in saucepan except for vanilla.

HOT FUDGE SAUCE

Hot Fudge Sauce image

Yield makes about 2 cups

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 cup heavy cream
1/3 cup light corn syrup, plus more to adjust consistency
12 ounces bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped

Steps:

  • Combine the heavy cream and corn syrup in a saucepan. Stir to combine, and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Remove from heat, and add the chocolate. If necessary, adjust the consistency with additional corn syrup. Whisk until the chocolate is melted, and serve.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality chocolate: The quality of the chocolate you use will greatly affect the flavor of the sauce. Use a semisweet or bittersweet chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 50%.
  • Don't overheat the chocolate: Overheating the chocolate can cause it to seize and become grainy. To prevent this, heat the chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly.
  • Use a heavy-bottomed saucepan: A heavy-bottomed saucepan will help to distribute the heat evenly and prevent the sauce from scorching.
  • Add the milk and cream slowly: Slowly whisking the milk and cream into the chocolate will help to prevent the sauce from curdling.
  • Bring the sauce to a simmer, not a boil: Bringing the sauce to a simmer will help to thicken it without causing it to curdle.
  • Use the sauce immediately or store it in the refrigerator: The sauce can be used immediately or stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Conclusion:

Martha's hot fudge sauce is a delicious and versatile sauce that can be used on a variety of desserts. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Whether you like it thick or thin, rich or chocolatey, this sauce is sure to please. So next time you are looking for a special treat, give Martha's hot fudge sauce a try. You won't be disappointed!
