MEAL-IN-ONE MACARONI SALAD

Meal-In-One Macaroni Salad image

Great for those hot summer nights when it's too hot to cook, this is a very versatile recipe. We like it served with crisp breadsticks. Best if made a day or two before serving but can be served after 3 hours of chilling. Amount of salt to use will depend on type of meat used.

Tips:

  • Choose the right macaroni. Elbow macaroni is the classic choice for macaroni salad, but you can also use other shapes like shells, penne, or rotini. Just make sure the pasta is cooked al dente so it still has a little bite to it.
  • Use fresh, high-quality ingredients. The better the ingredients, the better the macaroni salad will be. Look for fresh vegetables, crisp celery, and flavorful cheese.
  • Don't overcook the pasta. Macaroni salad is best when the pasta is still slightly firm. If you overcook it, it will become mushy and won't hold its shape well.
  • Don't drown the macaroni salad in dressing. The dressing should coat the pasta and vegetables, but it shouldn't be so much that the salad is swimming in it. A good rule of thumb is to use about 1/2 cup of dressing for every pound of pasta.
  • Chill the macaroni salad before serving. This will help the flavors to meld and the salad will be more refreshing.

Conclusion:

Macaroni salad is a classic summer dish that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With a few simple tips, you can make the best macaroni salad ever. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy side dish, give macaroni salad a try. You won't be disappointed!
