Nonstick cooking spray
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
3 cups semisweet chocolate chips (16 ounces)
1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon fine salt
2 1/2 cups roughly chopped miniature pretzels

Steps:

  • Coat an 8-inch square baking pan with cooking spray and line with parchment paper, leaving a 2-inch overhang on all sides.
  • Place butter, chocolate chips, condensed milk, vanilla, and salt in a medium heatproof bowl set over (not in) a pot of barely simmering water. Stir occasionally until chocolate just melts and mixture is combined and warm but not hot, 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in 2 cups pretzels. Transfer mixture to pan and smooth top; press 1/2 cup pretzels on top. Refrigerate until set, 2 hours (or up to overnight, wrapped). Using parchment, lift fudge from pan and cut into 36 squares.

MERTZIE'S ADDICTIVE PRETZEL CANDY FUDGE

Loved the addition of pretzels to this recipe. They gave it an unexpected crunchiness. I would agree - so yummy!

Categories     Candies

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 cup(s) mashed pretzels (sticks or penny rods)
1 cup(s) peanuts
2 tablespoon(s) peanut butter
12 ounce(s) white chocolate morsels
10 ounce(s) peanut butter morsels

Steps:

  • Put mashed pretzels in an oven on warm. Melt the peanut butter morsels & white chocolate morsels together. (I do this on 50% power in the microwave for about 5 minutes, stirring at least once.)
  • When melted, mix in peanut butter, peanuts & the mashed pretzels.
  • Spread onto a WELL-greased 8x8 pan. (I always line the pan with parchment paper sprayed with Pam.)
  • Allow fudge to harden, about 2 hours. Cut in chunks. They are not meant to look perfect. DIG IN!!!

Tips:

  • Use fresh pretzels: Stale pretzels can make your fudge dry and crumbly. For the best results, use fresh pretzels that are no more than a week old.
  • Don't overcook the fudge: Fudge is a delicate mixture, and it's easy to overcook it. Cook the fudge until it reaches a soft ball stage, about 235 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Let the fudge cool completely before cutting it: Fudge needs to cool completely before it can be cut into pieces. If you cut it too soon, it will be too soft and crumbly.

Conclusion:

Mertzie's Addictive Pretzel Candy Fudge is an easy and delicious treat that is perfect for any occasion. With its combination of sweet and salty flavors, this fudge is sure to be a hit. So next time you're looking for a sweet treat, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
