Time 20m

Yield 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup syrup
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 cups corn flakes
1 cup Rice Krispies

Steps:

  • Mix peanut butter, syrup and brown sugar over low heat until melted and well dissolved.
  • Stir in the Cornflakes and Rice Krispies.
  • Press into a buttered 8x8 pan.
  • Cool, then slice into squares.

Tips for Making Midas Squares:

  • Use a 9x13 inch baking pan: This will ensure that the squares are the perfect size and will cook evenly.
  • Line the pan with parchment paper: This will make it easy to remove the squares from the pan once they are baked.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy: This will help to incorporate air into the batter, resulting in a lighter and more tender texture.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition: This will help to prevent the batter from curdling.
  • Add the flour and baking powder to the batter in three additions, alternating with the milk: This will help to prevent the batter from becoming too thick or too thin.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts: Be sure to use high-quality chocolate chips and nuts for the best flavor.
  • Bake the squares at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean: Be sure to check the squares for doneness a few minutes before the end of the baking time, as they can easily overcook.
  • Cool the squares completely before cutting them into bars: This will help to prevent them from crumbling.
