Tips:

  • Use good quality ingredients: The better the ingredients, the better the pigs in a blanket will be. Look for fresh, high-quality beef smokies and flaky crescent roll dough.
  • Don't overcook the smokies: Overcooked smokies will be tough and dry. Cook them just until they are heated through, about 10-12 minutes.
  • Use a sharp knife to cut the dough: A sharp knife will make clean cuts and prevent the dough from tearing.
  • Roll the pigs in a blanket tightly: Tightly rolled pigs in a blanket will hold their shape better and prevent the filling from falling out.
  • Bake the pigs in a blanket on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet: This will prevent them from sticking to the pan and make cleanup easier.
  • Serve the pigs in a blanket hot: Pigs in a blanket are best served hot, right out of the oven. You can also serve them with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ketchup, mustard, or ranch dressing.
