I always wondered what would happen if you doubled the sauce ingredients and tossed in a little bit of rice. If you try it, please let me know:)

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
3 (4 ounce) packets saltine crackers, crushed
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
6 thin cut pork chops

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a shallow bowl or pie plate, whisk eggs with garlic powder and onion powder. Place cracker crumbs on a separate plate. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Dip pork chops into the egg, then press in the cracker crumbs to coat. Fry in the hot oil for 2 to 3 minutes per side, just until golden brown. Remove to a baking sheet. Bake for 25-30 minutes in the preheated oven, turning once. Serve immediately.

Tips:

  • To ensure tender and juicy pork chops, choose chops that are at least 1 inch thick and bone-in. Bone-in chops retain moisture better during cooking.
  • If you don't have a meat mallet, you can use a rolling pin or the bottom of a heavy saucepan to pound the pork chops to an even thickness.
  • Season the pork chops liberally with salt and pepper before cooking. This will help to enhance the natural flavor of the pork.
  • Brown the pork chops over medium-high heat in a large skillet. This will help to create a flavorful crust and prevent the chops from drying out.
  • Once the pork chops are browned, reduce the heat to medium-low and cook until the chops are cooked through. The internal temperature of the chops should reach 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Allow the pork chops to rest for a few minutes before serving. This will help the juices to redistribute and make the chops more tender.

Conclusion:

Mom's Baked Pork Chops is a classic comfort food dish that is easy to make and loved by people of all ages. The pork chops are juicy and flavorful, and the creamy mushroom sauce is the perfect complement. This dish is sure to be a hit at your next family gathering or potluck.
