Slightly varying from any other pot pie I've seen on here. I like my mom's hope you will too. Mom makes hers in a 9x9" baking dish, but you can use a regular 9" round pie shell just the same.

MOM'S CHICKEN PAPRIKA

Mom's Chicken Paprika image

This classic Hungarian dish tastes so great, even my kids (the pickiest eaters in the world) love it. My mom used to make it when I was a kid. Even if you don't like chicken you'll eat this. Great easy recipe!

Time 1h15m

Yield 5

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 (4 pound) whole chicken, cut into pieces
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon seasoned salt

2 ½ cups hot water
2 onions, peeled and sliced into rings
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Tips:

  • Use a variety of vegetables. This will give your chicken pie a more complex flavor and texture. Some good choices include carrots, celery, onions, peas, and corn.
  • Don't overcook the chicken. Overcooked chicken is tough and dry. Cook it until it is just cooked through, about 8 minutes per side.
  • Make sure the sauce is thick enough. A thin sauce will make your chicken pie runny. If the sauce is too thin, add a little cornstarch or flour to thicken it.
  • Use a good quality pie crust. A good pie crust will make your chicken pie look and taste better. You can either make your own pie crust or buy a pre-made one from the store.
  • Bake the chicken pie until the crust is golden brown. This will take about 30 minutes.

Conclusion:

Chicken pie is a classic comfort food that is perfect for a cold winter day. It is also a relatively easy dish to make, so it is perfect for busy weeknights. With a little planning, you can have a delicious chicken pie on the table in no time.
