Yield serves 2 people generously

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 medium onion, diced
2 garlic cloves, diced
1 tablespoon butter
8 oz. white button mushrooms, cleaned and thickly sliced
3/4 cup sour cream
1 1/2 teaspoons paprika
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
2 tablespoons dry sherry
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic and saute until golden and fragrant, about 5 minutes. Add the mushrooms and cook 5 minutes more. Stir in the sour cream, paprika, thyme, and sherry and coat the vegetables with the sauce. Cook together until the mushrooms are tender, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat. Serve over buttered noodles.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of mushrooms. This will give your paprikash a more complex flavor. Some good choices include button mushrooms, cremini mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, and oyster mushrooms.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan. When you're cooking the mushrooms, make sure to give them enough space so that they can brown properly. If you overcrowd the pan, the mushrooms will steam instead of brown and they won't have as much flavor.
  • Use a good quality paprika. Paprika is the key ingredient in this dish, so it's important to use a good quality one. Look for a paprika that is鮮紅 and has a strong, smoky flavor.
  • Don't boil the sauce. The sauce should be simmered gently for at least 30 minutes, but it's important not to let it boil. Boiling will make the sauce too thick and it will lose its delicate flavor.
  • Serve with your favorite sides. Mushrooms paprikash is a versatile dish that can be served with a variety of sides. Some good choices include egg noodles, mashed potatoes, or rice.

Conclusion:

Mushrooms paprikash is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. It's also a great way to use up leftover mushrooms. With its creamy sauce, tender mushrooms, and flavorful paprika, this dish is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
