Tips:

  • Choose the right ham: Select a fully cooked ham for easier preparation. Bone-in hams offer more flavor, but boneless hams are easier to carve.
  • Preheat the oven: Ensure your oven is preheated to the desired temperature before placing the ham inside. This helps the ham cook evenly.
  • Glaze the ham: Baste the ham with the glaze every 15-20 minutes during baking. This helps create a glossy and flavorful crust.
  • Use a meat thermometer: Insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the ham to ensure it reaches an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C) for fully cooked ham.
  • Let the ham rest: After baking, let the ham rest for about 15 minutes before carving. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more tender and flavorful ham.

Conclusion:

With careful preparation and attention to detail, you can create a delicious and impressive mustard cranberry glazed ham that will be the centerpiece of your holiday feast. The sweet and tangy glaze, combined with the juicy and savory ham, makes for a perfect balance of flavors. Remember to choose a high-quality ham, glaze it generously, and cook it to the right internal temperature for a truly memorable culinary experience.
