My Mom's Tuna Casserole With Potato Chips and Eggs image

An old family favorite--- comfort food at it's finest! This one includes potato chips as well as hard-boiled eggs. Just like mom used to make. Mom used to reheat leftovers in a frypan with butter the next day--- yum!! P.S. Sometimes I sprinkle mine with grated Parmesan cheese, at the table.

GRANDMA'S TUNA CASSEROLE WITH POTATO CHIPS AND NO NOODLES

Grandma's Tuna Casserole with Potato Chips and No Noodles image

This is my grandma's recipe. My dad calls it "Toucan Tuna Casserole" because it uses two cans of everything. It is uncommon among tuna casserole recipes because it uses potato chips instead of noodles. Serve with Worcestershire sauce.

MY MOM'S AWESOME TUNA NOODLE CASSEROLE

My Mom's Awesome Tuna Noodle Casserole image

If you're looking for a different-than-the-potato-chip-covered tuna casserole, look no further than the one I grew up with. It's almost like a strata or custard - give it a try! I've never had a better tuna casserole! It tastes even better the second day and freezes well when cut and wrapped in individual pieces. I recommend American cheese over Velveeta - tried it once and it just wasn't the same. You can use a larger can of tuna if you like.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: The better the ingredients, the better the casserole will taste. Look for tuna packed in water or olive oil, and use fresh vegetables and herbs.
  • Don't overcook the tuna: Tuna is a delicate fish, so it's important to cook it just until it's opaque. Overcooked tuna will be dry and tough.
  • Use a variety of vegetables: This will add flavor and texture to the casserole. Some good options include celery, onion, carrots, peas, and corn.
  • Season the casserole well: Salt, pepper, and garlic powder are all good choices. You can also add other herbs and spices to taste.
  • Use a combination of cheeses: This will create a rich and flavorful sauce. Cheddar cheese is a classic choice, but you can also use Parmesan, Gruyère, or Swiss cheese.
  • Top the casserole with potato chips: This adds a crunchy topping that's irresistible. You can use any type of potato chips, but flavored chips will add extra flavor.

Conclusion:

My Mom's Tuna Casserole with Potato Chips and Eggs is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that's perfect for a weeknight meal. It's packed with flavor and texture, and the potato chip topping is a fun and unexpected touch. This casserole is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
