Tips:

  • Choose the right pan: Use a 10-inch cast-iron skillet or a 13x9-inch baking dish. If using a cast-iron skillet, make sure it is well-seasoned.
  • Use fresh blueberries: Fresh blueberries will give the buckle the best flavor. If using frozen blueberries, thaw them completely before using.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make the buckle tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the buckle until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean: This will ensure that the buckle is cooked through.
  • Let the buckle cool slightly before serving: This will allow the buckle to set and make it easier to slice.

Conclusion:

Nana's Blueberry Buckle is a classic summer dessert that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With its sweet and tangy blueberries, tender crumb, and crispy topping, this buckle is sure to be a hit at your next potluck or picnic.
