NANNY'S SWEET WHITE SAUCE
Another old family recipe from my Canadian turned naturalized US citizen Grandmother. This is a dessert white sauce, served warm over your choice of cake. My Grandmother used to serve it over an apple cake or her walnut cake (Recipe #360999). Definitely fits in the comfort food category and makes for an elegant, but simple, dessert. It will enhance the flavor of your cake, not overpower it.

Tips:
- Mise en place: Before you start baking, make sure you have all the ingredients and equipment you need. This will help you stay organized and avoid any mishaps.
- Follow the recipe carefully: Baking is a science, so it's important to follow the recipe exactly. If you don't, you may end up with a cake that doesn't turn out the way you want it to.
- Use high-quality ingredients: The quality of your ingredients will affect the taste of your cake. So, it's worth it to invest in good-quality butter, eggs, flour, and sugar.
- Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter can make the cake tough. So, mix it just until the ingredients are combined.
- Bake the cake at the right temperature: The temperature of the oven will affect the way the cake bakes. So, make sure you preheat the oven to the correct temperature before you put the cake in.
- Don't open the oven door during baking: Opening the oven door during baking can cause the cake to fall. So, resist the temptation to peek!
- Let the cake cool completely before frosting it: Frosting a warm cake can cause the frosting to melt. So, let the cake cool completely before you frost it.
