NO- BAKE CHEWY COOKIES AND CREAM BARS

No- Bake Chewy Cookies and Cream Bars image

I found this recipe on picky-palate.com. It's similar to rice krispy treats, but uses oreo cookies instead. The yield said 9 large bars, but I cut mine small, because they are rich.

Provided by Newmsy

Categories     Bar Cookie

Time 15m

Yield 9 large bars

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 (16 ounce) package Oreo cookies
5 cups large marshmallows
4 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • Place oreos into food processor and pulse until ground. Melt butter and marshmallows in microwave until puffed; about 1 1/2 - 2 minutes. Remove and pour in ground oreos. Stir to combine and then press into foil lined 8x8 inch baking pan. Let set up for 10 minutes. Remove bars out of pan with edges of foil and cut into squares.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality chocolate. The better the chocolate, the better the cookies and cream bars will be. Look for chocolate that is at least 60% cacao.
  • Make sure the butter is cold. This will help to create a more flaky crust.
  • Do not overmix the dough. Overmixing will make the crust tough.
  • Chill the dough before baking. This will help to prevent the cookies from spreading too much.
  • Bake the cookies in a preheated oven. This will help to ensure that they cook evenly.
  • Let the cookies cool completely before frosting them. This will help to prevent the frosting from melting.
  • Use a high-quality vanilla extract. This will help to give the frosting a rich flavor.
  • Garnish the cookies with chocolate chips or sprinkles. This will add a festive touch.

Conclusion:

Cookies and cream bars are a delicious and easy-to-make dessert. They are perfect for any occasion, from potlucks to birthday parties. With a few simple tips, you can make cookies and cream bars that are sure to impress your friends and family. These bars are a great way to use up leftover cookies, and they are always a hit with kids.
