CHERRY TORTE

Cherry Torte image

This is my dad's favorite dessert. My grandma used to make it for her family. Whenever we'd have it at their house my grandpa would eat the cherries for me. Now dad does. Lately though I've split the recipe into two dishes and made one with the cherries and one with just a little of the filling for my nephew and I.

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

Tips:

  • Choose ripe, fresh cherries: Sweet, juicy cherries are the key to a delicious torte. Look for cherries that are plump and have a deep red color.
  • Pit the cherries: You can use a cherry pitter or a paring knife to remove the pits from the cherries. Be careful not to cut yourself.
  • Use a food processor to make the crust: This is the easiest way to get a smooth, even crust. If you don't have a food processor, you can use a pastry blender or two forks to mix the ingredients together.
  • Chill the dough before rolling it out: This will help to prevent the dough from sticking to the counter or rolling pin.
  • Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface: This will help to prevent the dough from sticking.
  • Bake the crust for 10-12 minutes before adding the filling: This will help to prevent the crust from becoming soggy.
  • Use a pastry brush to brush the crust with milk before baking: This will help to give the crust a golden brown color.
  • Let the torte cool completely before serving: This will help the filling to set and the flavors to meld together.

Conclusion:

Old-fashioned cherry torte is a delicious and classic dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its sweet and tart cherries, flaky crust, and creamy filling, this torte is sure to be a hit. So next time you're looking for a special dessert to make, give this old-fashioned cherry torte a try. You won't be disappointed!
